A Few Information On Computer Forensics Terms & Definitions
- Compression – A system used to reduce the size of a file so that the file utilizes less bandwidth.
- Byte – A unit of measure consisting of eight bits that is the basic measurement of most computer data as multiples of the byte value. One million bytes are equivalent to a megabyte while one billion bytes is a gigabyte .
- GIF (Graphic Interchange Format) – A compression format used to store picture files.
- Deleted File -- Data inhabits storage media in some form until it is overwritten or wiped with a software program. So the delete key doesn't mean the file is gone!
